protect your pets during an emergencySummertime often can bring violent weather in the form of severe thunderstorms, hurricanes, tornadoes, and flooding  that can endanger communities. Those threats or others such as fire, power outage or exposure to hazardous material  could cause your family to evacuate your home – often with very little notice.

We all know the value of being prepared for such possible disasters, and you probably already have your own disaster plan in place to protect your family.

But have you included your pet in those plans? If not, you could be forced to leave them behind to fend for themselves if evacuation were necessary because most emergency shelters do not accept pets.  The Insurance Information Institute (III) offers some sound advice to help you add your pet to your evacuation plans. Below you'll find information on other resources to help you protect your pets from risk during an emergency or evacuation.

schaefer-concrete-clientHere at Schaefer & Delauder Insurance, we believe that all of our policyholders are outstanding, and when one of them is recognized, we like to brag a little.

Take Zeke Zinchiak, for instance.  Zeke is a concrete contractor, owner of Z Con, Inc. in Woodbine, MD.  He is a visionary.  When he comes across something he believes in, he pursues it.  We like to think that is why Zeke chose Schaefer & Delauder Insurance as his insurance agency.

It is certainly why Z Con, Inc. is being recognized this week at the World of Concrete Trade Show in Las Vegas and why Zeke and his company are being featured in this month’s Concrete Contractor magazine. Yes, that's Zeke on the cover!

No matter what business you are in, if you’d like to be inspired then read about Zeke and Z Con, Inc. We recommend it.

And if you’re sufficiently inspired to follow your own business dreams, then why not sit down with us here at Schaefer & Delauder Insurance to talk about business insurance options to help you move forward or check out our website to learn more about what is available

blog homeowners rights

Do you know why spring is known as the home buying season? It seems that almost half of home sales for the entire year occur during the period of April through June.

If you are shopping for a new home, you probably already know that you’ll be asking a lot of questions. You’ll want to know about the neighborhood, perhaps the schools, and the financials – from the mortgage interest rates to fees and taxes. After all, buying a home is likely the largest investment you’ll be making.
